Private Messages are just like regular SMS, except you can also view them on web after logging in (if you have a web account on Pring). To send a private message to anyone, send .name+msg or M+name+msg or D+name+msg. Let's say you want to send a private message to your friend Hasan, you can do so in the following three ways:
m hasan what's the program? or
d hasan what's the program? or
.hasan what's the program?
To comment on a status update from your mobile phone, simply send your comment as a Reply to that status update. The received message will be from the shortcode 9900 and will contain your username.
Once you comment on a status, you may become a part of that chain. You may receive all the comments on that status on your cell phone from then on, depending on the settings of the person.
For Web:
To only comment on one person's reply in a thread, click reply on that comment and then write @username+your message. This message will be sent to that person alone via SMS.
Tell us about yourself by sending ABOUTME+text. For example to set your 'about me' text as, "I am 18 yrs old, and I live in DHA, Lahore" send:
aboutme I am 18 yrs old, and I live in DHA, Lahore
This text will be sent to anyone who sends WHOIS+yourname
To allow a follow request sent to you by a pringer, send ALLOW+username. For example to accept the follow request by the pringer Ali_1, send:
allow ali_1
Someone is bugging you on Pring? You can silence them by sending BLOCK+name. For example to block Haseeb, send:
block haseeb
The blocked users can not send you follow requests or private messages; they can not view or comment on your status updates; and their status updates will also be hidden from you.
Send default to set your privacy settings to default. Default privacy settings are as follows:
Who can see my Prings: Anyone
Who can comment on my Prings: My followers
Who can Private Message me: Anyone
Who can follow me: Anyone
You receive Prings (updates) from anyone you follow. You can follow anyone by sending ADD+name or FOLLOW+name. For example to follow Ali_1's Prings (updates) on Pring send:
add ali_1
Your Prings (updates) are broadcast to all the users who follow you, and you receive all the Prings (updates) of the users whom you follow.
Find out about someone by sending WHOIS+name or INFO+name. For example to know about Adnan send:
whois adnan
Send INVITE+number and we will send an invitation to the number to join Pring on your behalf. For example to invite Umar (cell no. 03131234567) on Pring send:
invite 03131234567
Or to invite more than one friend to Pring with a single command send:
invite 03131234567, 03211234567, 03001234567, 03331234567
To stop receiving updates from Pring for a particular period (everyday), send Mute+timing. For example if you don't want to receive updates from Pring between 11:00pm to 7:00am, send:
mute 11:00pm 7:00am
You can view your mute timings by sending mute
You can also turn mute off by sending mute off
You can change your name by sending NAME+new name. For example to change your name from adnan_khan to adnan_k send:
name adnan_k
You can set your full name by sending FULLNAME+Your full name. For example to set your full name as M. Omar Zaidi, send:
fullname M. Omar Zaidi
Your full name can be 3 to 45 characters and can be 2-5 words long. You username can also be extracted from your full name.
Send STOP or QUIT or OFF to stop receiving updates (messages) from Pring. You can resume the service later by sending START
Send START or ON to resume the service. This is needed if you have stopped the service by sending STOP
Haven't heard from someone in a long time? Pring them by sending PRING+name or POKE+name. For example to poke Hasan send:
pring hasan
You can set your privacy settings by sending privacy. A 'privacy' wizard will be initiated. To complete the 'privacy' wizard you will have to answer the following four questions regarding your privacy preferences:
Who can see my Prings
Who can comment on my Prings
Who can Private Message me
Who can follow me
Send private to set your privacy settings to private. Preferences for private settings are as follows:
Who can see my Prings: My followers and whom I follow
Who can comment on my Prings: My followers
Who can Private Message me: People whom I follow
Who can follow me: Anyone I allow
Send public to set your privacy settings to public. Preferences for public settings are as follows:
Who can see my Prings: Anyone
Who can comment on my Prings: My followers
Who can Private Message me: Anyone
Who can follow me: Anyone
If you have accidentally blocked someone, you can unblock them by sending UNBLOCK+name. For example to unblock Haseeb send:
unblock haseeb
Send STAT+username to find out the total number of followers, Prings, and people followed by that person. For example to find out Hasan's stats send:
stat hasan
You can also check out your own stats by sending stat or stats
Send DELETE+name or DEL+name UNFOLLOW+name or LEAVE+name to stop following anyone. For example to stop following Prings (updates) from Haseeb send:
delete haseeb
Send unsub to delete your account (you will have to reply with the confirmation code being sent to you after sending 'unsub' to confirm account deletion). You can still be invited to join the service by your friends. To join again, send HELLO.
With zabaan command you can choose between different languages (currently English and Roman Urdu only) as the default language for receiving Pring responses
To set your language as English send ENGLISH
To set your language as Urdu send URDU
To know your language setting send ZABAAN
With report command you can report a user on Pring. If Someone is spamming, harassing or doing anything else to upset you via Pring, send REPORT+username+reason. If you want to report a user named ali who is constantly bugging you on Pring send:
